This power constraint mostly affects 12V centrifugal pumps: their use cases often require a high flow, and a power of 0.5hp (370W) or more. When assessing the 12V DC power your system can supply, take into account:

• the maximum draw your batteries can tolerate (lead-acid batteries are quite limited, the maximum current draw is usually indicated on the side);
• the rated power of your solar panels and solar charge controller;
• the fact that your pump will require a peak current of about twice the rated current to start.
